Creative Stirling events

Based at the Old Town Jail, our pals Creative Stirling are hosting some special events during Bloody Scotland. Here’s the low-down:

Freedom Versions V.1 graffiti art installation

This has been the centrepiece for a Year of Creative Scotland funded project for Culture and Tourism for summer 2012. The 31m mural, inspired by its location and the rich historical context of the City’s Victorian prison, was created by ten contemporary  Scottish artists as the first stage of a two year project exploring notions of freedom, justice and ultimately Scottish independence. The artwork will be deconstructed and auctioned off to the public to support Creative Stirling’s mission as a not for profit, community interest company making a mark on the new cultural identity of the city and to offer an original cultural experience for Crime Fest visitors.

An outdoor event in the unique outdoor surroundings of Stirling’s Old Town Jail Yard, to welcome visitors to the Festival. Join us for an evening of fine local beers from the Bridge Of Allan Brewery and acoustic music to make this last chance opportunity to view the Freedom Versions mural before the live auction event on Saturday a memorable social event. Meet with the artists and reflect on the days events with fellow festival goers and guests. There will be some blood soaked ‘crime’ graffiti art being created live on site, as well as literature, locally produced artwork and fine prison stovies for sale under our marquee to ensure some home comforts.
