Crime in the Spotlight

Crime in the Spotlight

As we do every year, Bloody Scotland wants to offer a platform to shine a spotlight on new crime writing talent during the festival. Usually, new and emerging published crime writers are invited to apply for a slot to read out a short sample of their work in front of Stirling crowds before one of our programmed events. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Bloody Scotland festival in 2020 is moving online and so are the Crime in the Spotlight slots. This means you’d be performing your work ahead of one of our programmed events, but online and streamed to audiences worldwide!

This year, you’re eligible to apply for Crime in the Spotlight if you:

  • have never appeared on the programme at Bloody Scotland before
  • are early in your crime writing career (such as on your first or second published book, but no more)
  • are based in the UK
Please note: Crime in the Spotlight is NOT for unpublished authors. If you are an unpublished writer, please check out our Pitch Perfect scheme which will be opening soon.
Please apply by filling out the form below which has a deadline of FRIDAY 31ST JULY. Good luck!
