Ian Rankin – The Dark Remains (online)
Friday 17th September from 7:00 pm – Thursday 30th September from 8:00 pm BST
It might be the most talked about Scottish crime novel in a decade. An epic, generation-spanning collaboration between two giants of the genre – the man who started it all and the man who took it on.
William McIlvanney had the beginnings of a new Laidlaw novel, something the crime fiction world had been waiting decades for. His sad death in 2015, left a book undone, a story untold. There were notes; chapters here and sheets of paper there. The seeds of a novel, something great, had been sown.
Thankfully, Ian Rankin had not only the skills but also the courage to take on the undoubtedly daunting task of finishing what the master had started.
Ian will discuss the process of this formidable assignment with interviewer Jenny Brown and will be joined by Francis Bickmore of publishers Canongate.
