Searching for a Home – Sarah Hilary, Imran Mahmood and Tim Sullivan (online)
Saturday 18th September from 11:45 am – Thursday 30th September from 12:45 pm BST
Meet three authors who force us to question our preconceptions of those who’ve fallen through society’s cracks as they tackle one of society’s most pressing yet overlooked problems – homelessness.
Sarah Hilary’s darkly unsettling new novel Fragile tells of runaway Nell Ballard who is in search of a roof over her head, but her new lodgings turn out not to be the safe haven she’d hoped for. In the intelligent and thought provoking What I Saw, the latest from Imran Mahmood, a former bankernow living on the streets is witness to a vicious murder but is told what he saw is impossible. Tim Sullivan is an acclaimed screenwriter, whose credits include A HANDFUL OF DUST, WHERE ANGELS FEAR TO TREAD, and JACK AND SARAH (which he also directed). He has now embarked on a series of crime novels featuring the eccentric and socially-awkward, but brilliantly persistent DS George Cross. The DENTIST is the first in this series and examines the death of a man among Bristol’s homeless community.
This event will be chaired by Zoe Venditozzi.
Please note, Tim Sullivan replaces Trevor Wood.
